Food Retail – Management Development Programme – Case Study
An Instructor lead face to face programme developed by MPI Learning for the Spanish food retailer Brindisa
What the issue was
As a rapidly growing business they had promoted from within, this is common with new and developing businesses and we are approached to help with it often. With a heavy reliance on learning on the job some gaps were inevitable, we were asked to assess the current management style and help them plug any gaps with the appropriate learning and development models required.
How we solved this
After conducting research on how the managers operate, we found that the most valuable areas to improve were:
- Cohesion of the management team – bring everyone on board and get them working together.
- Enhance the communication of all departments.
- Develop the management skill of all existing managers and create a programme for new managers so they feel part of the business. Create a coaching culture within the business to build on the improvement from the management programme.
Outcomes
MPI delivered a programme over 4 months supported by 1 on 1 coaching. We concentrated on the skills and behaviours needed for a manager and leader within Brindisa and the challenges they faced.
Brindisa managers were coached on a one on one basis with an MPI facilitator/coach to help get to the bottom of any underlying issues they may have. At the end of the programme the managers then prepared a presentation to demonstrate what they had learned and are doing differently. They had to provide examples of the impact it is having on their team and the business as a whole.
Brindisa continues to grow from strength to strength and is dedicated to the development of its people.
