Description
Develop confidence & capability in delivering to the camera & conducting interviews. Develop your own personal brand & impact on camera whether in person ‘live’, pre-recorded or online.
Modules/Lessons
Delivered over 2-3 days face to face or 4 x 3 hour virtual sessions with 1-2 follow on individual coaching sessions. If the group is small, e.g. 4-5 people, 2 days would be realistic. If the group is larger eg 10-12, then a 3rd day is key for time to practice & feedback.
The Programme split into these key areas:
- Preparing for an interview or speaking to camera – key research on the topic / guest, key messages to land, key questions to ask
- Creating a positive environment around you – with any support team & location as well as the backdrop (including if recording a clip online or virtual)
- Developing your personal brand & impact – how you want to come across on camera, e.g. look, energy, positivity, audience connection, humour
- Basic media delivery – using autocue, walk & talk outside broadcast, conducting an interview effectively
- Writing & delivering a short piece to camera – being clear about your ‘red thread’, using the ‘power of 3’ to both remember & land the message
- Conducting an interview with impact – relaxing the guest, asking short open questions, actively listening, probing for impact
- Handling difficult questions – being ready to do so & how to answer with empathy
Prerequisites
We suggest a blended learning approach to the programme with some self managed learning upfront & post activities to embed the training.
We would suggest some initial engagement with the team to undertake our own research & tailoring of the final programme & approach. And an upfront session with key leaders to hear their perspective & how they will follow up the training.
Each element would be highly practical & engaging – getting each learner involved early & throughout.
A series of practical exercises would be built in including some ‘live role play’ practice (option - with actors) & specific feedback.
From the outset, each learner would create their own personal development plan where they capture key learns & specific feedback to work on. If the programme is run virtually, we suggest a few days between each session in order to apply the learning & follow up on progress.
Whether the programme is run in person, virtually or a blend of both, we suggest some additional individual follow on 1 to 1 coaching.
This enables us to follow up on initial progress & really tailor the learning to ensure a step change in confidence & capability is achieved.
This 1 to 1 coaching would typically involve 1 – 2 initial sessions of approx. 2 hours per learner. Costs will be provided separately.
